Baby Talk, as a book is hard to define, because it combines both fiction and reality to deliver its message. It is clearly fictional since it depicts a series of virtual conversations, between an elderly first time grandfather and his prematurely born grandson. At the beginning, those talks involved the struggles the child was having to overcome during his first year of life. They were the kind of challenges that were quite real and very worrisome for this new Grandpa. .He, however, seemed to derive a degree of comfort from his virtual encounters, since they permitted him to seemingly help by participating in the struggle.

At first, those hurdles dominated their unique meetings, but in time other topics began to crop up. Because of this gradual shift in emphasis, the book often times moved very far away from just baby talk. That occurred, whenever they found themselves addressing topics that required references to history, philosophy,values and religion in order to be properly explained and understood.

By so doing, the author provided himself with an outlet by which to express his worries over his grandson's early development, as well as those he might encounter in the future. Once he gained enough confidence in his early progress, their discussions became more a vehicle by which the author sought to have his grandson learn more about him as a person After all, he realized that he may not be around when his grandson is all grown up.

.Given that fact, he wanted to make sure he could share with him his ideas, opinions, advice and values. In so doing, he hoped they would,somehow be meaningful and useful to him in the future. The truth is that growing up to be a good, well adjusted, successful and fully functional adult, in a rapidly changing world, is not a simple task. It takes all the love and guidance one can absorb, in order not to fall victim to ways of squandering the great potential and talent he has within him.

This book seeks to do all that, with a good sense of humor and in a spirit of love and caring. At the same time, it is unafraid to be tough and demanding when it comes to the high goals and aspirations, this loving grandfather has for his grandson.
