The tale has a soap opera type love story with people who come into each other's lives in complicated ways and end up falling in love. Don't want to give away too much but the main character Doreen falls for a married man and they have a child together. Isabella, the scorned wife, hires a detective to follow her husband and finds out about Doreen. In the meantime the detective and Isabella start an affair of their own. Fast forward and Scott kidnaps the love child belonging to his lover's ex only to repent years later and fall in love with the child's mother. It is a complex plot but those that like love triangles or soaps will enjoy it. There are a couple scenes in the book that are questionable like a scene where a virginal woman has sex but is so drunk can't fully consent to it but then these two become lovers. In another relationship the guy that kidnapped the woman's child now becomes her lover and while detailing their sexual relationship we are also told about repenting and becoming Christians. Doreen was my favorite character in this book because she endured a lot by falling in love with a married man, getting pregnant and having her child (Melanie) taken from her. She missed out on all of Melanie's young years. I didn't like Jake at the beginning but then he changed his life to do good. It is great when bad people turn into good.
This one was really good it grabbed me from the first pages and I couldn't put it down. This is an Amish contemporary story about the power of Jesus as well as love and forgiveness. I do have to say that although this one full of Christian themes that I didn't feel I was being preached at. I have been Pagan for over 20 years and I really enjoyed this book and the story. I also want to tell you that this one has some graphic bedroom scenes as well as some language that you normally wouldn't think to find in this kind of book, so be warned!
This one had good pacing and great characters and even though it does have Christian themes I urge you to give this one a try!
Returned To Me by Helen Bea Kirk is an amazing story of Christian love. The characters complicated lives, with a devotion to God, sends them on a journey of love and redemption. The author's books have a good plot and doesn't force religion. There are a few sex scenes in this book.
The trials and tribulations we endure is a part of life but redemption is necessary. When evil strikes Jake, God's soldiers are just around the corner to help.
Doreen is Amish. She has an affair with a married man. When her child is kidnapped she loses her path with God.
Melanie's kidnapper becomes her father and together, with faith in God, their journey begins spreading His word throughout the world.
When Melanie decides to find her lost mother evil strikes again.
There are some twists and turns in the story that you didn't see coming.
Good story if somewhat confusing. Did not enjoy the sexual promiscuity in the story line. That was unexpected, so ended up skipping the parts that went into details.
